Biography

Howard Alper is Distinguished University Professor at the University of Ottawa, and spearheads the bold Global Excellence Initiative launched by Canada’s former Head of State. HA serves as Chair of the Canvassing Committee for the initiative. He has published 552 papers, edited several books, and has 37 patents. He serves on Advisory Committees in industry, academia, and the NGO sector. He has served as the Chair of the Government of Canada’s Science, Technology, and Innovation Council from 2007-2015, and represented Canada for eight years to the Carnegie Group of Science Advisors to National Leaders (or Ministers of Science if the nation has no science advisor)
