Biography
Dr. Prabagaran Narayanasamy is a faculty member in the Department of pathology and microbiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He received his Ph. D at IIT in Organic Chemistry working on asymmetric synthesis and did his postdoctoral studies at North Dakota State University working on beta amino acids and free radicals, Harvard University and University of Illinois Urbana-champaign working on palladium chemistry. Later, he joined as a Research Scientist at Colorado State University to explore drug discovery in M. tb. He has been a faculty at University of Nebraska Medical Center since 2012.
Research Interest
Dr. Narayanasamy’s research interests are on development, delivering and discovering drug for anti-microbial medicine and antiretroviral therapy. He is also exploring in use of conventional drugs and new inhibitors in nanoformulation to generate active nanomedicine. For antibacterial drug discovery - glyoxalase, quorum sensing, MEP and menaquinone pathway are utilized. Recently, He started a drug discovery program to reduce aging and autism spectrum disorder. He has funding from NE and NIH. Also member in study sections and American Societies.
